Mareli Wassenaar is owner of the Market@theSheds  and CEO of The Social Mix - Events and Development Communication. She has been focusing on citizen-led rejuvenation initiatives in Pretoria for more than 10 years with projects driving social cohesion, arts-, culture- and economic development, environmental issues, safety, tourism and the development of public spaces. Mareli combines social responsibility projects with urban renewal strategies and links businesses, local councils, community groups, NGO’s and funding agents to CSI and Social Responsibility opportunities in the city. Due to her passion for local art, design and music, she has been involved with many projects and events driving social cohesion, tourism, arts-, culture- and economic development. One of these projects is the Pretoria inner-city Market@theSheds which inspired The Sheds Menlyn Festive MarketMareli consults as a Place-maker and Communications Specialist and owns and manages the Market@theSheds in the CBD.
